The Steering Committee for a local Source Water Protection Plan should have representation from many organizations in the local community. It should NOT consist only of representatives from the water utility and local government. - an elected official (Borough and/or Township owned/served by water system)
- board/council member
- water authority/sewer authority
- local fire department chief and/or emergency management coordinator
- water system operator
- older resident who knows the local area history
- municipal official from the municipality where the water source is located
- PA Department of Environmental Protection - regional Hydrogeologist and/or Sanitarian
- PA Department of Transportation (if state routes intersect the SWP Area)
- County Planning Commission
- County Conservation District
- Penn State Agriculture Extension
- local farmers
- local industry
- local residents
- watershed association
- local school teacher/educator
- other interested parties
