Official Water Supply Area sign for WHPA/SWPA programs
(must have PADEP approved SWP or WHP Program to post official sign on PADOT right-of-way)

There are currently 4 sizes of signs approved by PADOT for use in source water protection areas. Communities that want to post signs should first contact their local PADOT District and consult with the person responsible for signs. He/she will review your SWPA maps and proposed locations and designate which size signs should be used in each proposed location. They will also give you guidance on who will make and post signs (some Districts will handle this internally and invoice you, while others will require that you have the signs manufactured at an approved sign maker and post them at your cost)

Water Supply Sign Flyer/Postcard Artwork

The SWP Sign Flyer was produced for use at Rest Areas and in tourism racks throughout Pennsylvania. Postcards were also developed for water systems and SWP Steering Committees to mail to landowners near were the signs are posted. The original artwork is located below in numerous formats for both Macintosh and PC based computers and is copyright free for use in your educational campaigns. (the exception is, of course, the logos for the different organizations involved in the project).

This project was funded by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania Citizen Education Fund under a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. This flyer was developed by the PA Rural Water Association. The official Water Supply Area Sign was developed under a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation by a partnership of the PA League of Women Voters, PA Rural Water Association, PA Department of Environmental Protection and the PA Department of Transportation.
